UNLV baseball rallies to down Fresno State, 9-8
UNLV scored three runs in the eighth inning and three in the ninth, then held on to defeat host Fresno State 9-8 on Saturday in a Mountain West baseball game.
Joey Armstrong and Patrick Armstrong had three hits apiece and Brandon Bayardi added two, including a solo home run, for the Rebels (22-8, 7-4), who held on despite allowing all eight runs in the final four innings.
The UNLV men’s golf team is tied for fourth after two rounds of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. The Rebels shot 1-under-par 283 for a total of 2-under 566, four strokes behind leader New Mexico. UNLV sophomore Kurt Kitayama is fifth individually at 4-under 138, six strokes off the lead.
Emilie Valadez had three hits and scored three runs to lead UNLV to an 8-2 softball victory over Fresno State at Eller Media Stadium. Tayler Aleman added a two-run homer for the Rebels (16-21, 2-3 MW).
The UNLV women’s tennis team defeated Boise State 5-2 in a Mountain West match in San Diego. The Rebels (11-6, 1-1) swept the three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead, then won four of six in singles.
UNLV won five events in the Fresno State women’s track and field challenge in Clovis, Calif. Emily Blok (100 meters), Erin Morris (100 hurdles), Taylar Mills (triple jump), MyShauna Alexander (javelin) and the 4×200 relay team claimed gold medals for the Rebels.
