Richy goes in third round to Dodgers

UNLV junior right-hander John Richy was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round Friday.

He was the 98th overall selection, and with teammate Erick Fedde going 18th to the Washington Nationals the day before, the Rebels had two players drafted in the top 100 for the first time.

Richy went 11-4 with a 3.20 and led the Mountain West with 113 strikeouts in 121 innings. He also was named first-team all-conference.

College of Southern Nevada left fielder Grant Heyman was taken in the eighth round (240th overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He led the Coyotes with a .377 batting average, eight home runs and 43 RBIs.
