Myers’ pitching, early surge key Rebels’ baseball rout over San Jose State
D.J. Myers pitched seven shutout innings, and Corey Pool’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run first inning for UNLV in its 12-0 victory over San Jose State in a Mountain West baseball game Friday in San Jose, California.
Myers (4-2), a junior right-hander, gave up five hits and one walk and struck out five as the Rebels (18-23, 9-10) halted a two-game win streak by the Spartans (13-28, 5-17).
Pool finished 3-for-5 and scored twice as UNLV held a 20-5 edge in hits.
Kyle Isbel led the way with a 4-for-6 showing that included two doubles. Justin Jones had two doubles and a single and scored three runs, and Andrew Yazdanbakhsh went 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice.
