Local colleges: UNLV women’s tennis nets pair of victories

The UNLV women’s tennis team had a perfect Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, beating New Mexico State and Pacific by identical 7-0 scores.
Against the Aggies, the Lady Rebels (2-2) won the two completed doubles matches for the first point, then took all six singles matches, five in straight sets. Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 20th, paced UNLV with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jodie Williams at No. 1.
Josifoska also won in straight sets against Pacific’s Iveta Masarova, 7-6, 6-2.
■ UNLV SOFTBALL — UNLV had a nine-run third inning, then barely made that 9-0 lead stand up in a 12-10, eight-inning victory over Central Florida in the Sportco Kick-Off Classic at Eller Media Stadium. Stefany Valentino and Tayler Van Acker had two-run singles in the third for the Rebels, and Garie Blando had a two-run double to cap the outburst.
UNLV (2-1) played Texas Tech late Saturday night.
■ UNLV TRACK AND FIELD — At Albuquerque, N.M., Kelsey Williamson won the 800-meter run, and Emily Blok took second in the 200 for UNLV on Friday at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational.
■ CSN BASEBALL — At Prescott, Ariz., the College of Southern Nevada had its doubleheader against Yavapai College canceled due to snow in Prescott, Ariz.
■ CSN SOFTBALL — At St. George, Utah, CSN split a neutral-site doubleheader with College of Southern Idaho. The Coyotes (9-8) won the opener 5-2, then got trounced, 26-4.
