Trailblazers jump ahead, fight off Lions’ late push

Durango built a 28-19 halftime lead and held on to gain a 69-65 road victory over Sierra Vista in boys basketball Tuesday.

Jamal Crook scored 20 points to lead the Trailblazers.

Ron Barnes had 13 points and 15 rebounds, Marcus Falley scored 11 points and Glenn Pulliam grabbed 11 rebounds for Durango.

Josh McLain led Sierra Vista with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nick Douglas had 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Akeem Smith scored 15 points. The Lions cut the deficit to two points three times in the final three minutes.

Valley 77, Rancho 67 — At Valley, Johnquez Brooks scored 22 points to lead the Vikings past the Rams.

Terrence Tatum scored 20 points for Valley, and Cordero Harris had 10 points and 20 rebounds.

Dijon Bowman led Rancho with 17 points, and Perry Benson scored 16.

The teams combined to shoot 76 free throws and hit 51.

Faith Lutheran 70, Tech 55 — At Faith Lutheran, Diontea Wright led a balanced attack with 14 points as the Crusaders took an early lead and kept adding to it.

Conner Maloney scored 12 points for the Crusaders.

Ben Seibert led Tech with 16 points, and Brandon Tiffany scored 14.

Bishop Gorman 68, Western 55 — At Western, Quintin Dailey led all scorers with 19 points as the Gaels handled the Warriors.

Kylel Coleman scored 18 and Jordan Hill 13 for Gorman, which took a 25-13 lead after the first quarter.

Western got 16 points from Johnnie Diggs and 14 from Zach Fowler.

Mojave 61, Chaparral 36 — At Mojave, Darian Norris had 21 points, and the Rattlers outscored the Cowboys 35-12 in the second half.

Jordan Cannon scored 13 points and Anthony Marshall 11 for Mojave. Tyquiese Anthony had 12 points and Tyler Bryant 11 for Chaparral.

Spring Valley 69, Bonanza 56 — At Spring Valley, Jason Walter scored 19 points and Tenacious Gibson 14 as the Grizzlies defeated the Bengals.

David Carroll scored 11 for Spring Valley. Landry Petersen had 11 points for Bonanza.

Eldorado 73, Las Vegas 64 — At Las Vegas, Curtis Malone scored 22 points to lead the Sundevils over the Wildcats.

Mitrell Clark (15), Mike Elliott (11) and Marcus Moreland (11) also scored in double figures for Eldorado.

Tony Eackles led Las Vegas with 18 points, and Zerrick Pryor scored 16.

Henderson International 61, Indian Springs 44 — At Henderson International, Vihn Thai hit eight 3-pointers for 24 points to lead the Wolverines over the Thunderbirds.

Tommy Vogel had 10 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, and Brian Chausner scored 18 for International.

Forrest Kelly led Indian Springs with 15 points.

Lake Mead 86, The Meadows 64 — At The Meadows, Landon Littlefield scored 29 points to propel the Eagles.

Lake Mead’s Dequan Thompson scored 18 points and Jared Dean 17.

Jon Chino paced The Meadows with 18 points.
