San Diego State facing NCAA investigation for possible violations

San Diego State could be facing an NCAA investigation for possible rules violations by staff members.

CBS Sports reported Tuesday that the potential violations stem from providing improper benefits to potential recruits and could classified as Level I, the most serious charges.

San Diego State officials refused to comment on the report.

The Aztecs are coached by Steve Fisher, who has led San Diego State to five Mountain West Conference regular-season titles and six straight NCAA Tournament berths. He has been the head coach since 1999.

While serving as the head coach at Michigan, Fisher had issues with the NCAA involving improper benefits from a booster that led to his dismissal in 1997 and the Wolverines vacating Final Four appearances in 1992 and 1993.
