Kutcher, Diaz heat up Vegas filming

At long last, “What Happens in Vegas …” finally happens in Vegas.

The big-screen romantic comedy, which began production in August, is expected to start shooting here this week.

Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher star in the tale of two people who discover they’ve gotten married in Pair-a-dice following a night of debauchery. Their battles begin almost immediately thereafter, when one of them wins a gigantic jackpot — with the other’s quarter.

Start your engines: Two projects get their motors runnin’ by focusing on topics automotive.

TLC’s “Overhaulin’ ” rolls into town in advance of next week’s SEMA, the annual automotive specialty products trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “Overhaulin’ ” plans an hour-long episode on SEMA, which is closed to the public.

And Discovery Channel Europe’s “Kings of Nitro” continues its focus on European drag-racing champ Urs Erbacher, who hits the Strip — the one at Las Vegas Motor Speedway — for the four-day NHRA Nationals, which begin Thursday.

Before then, however, the “Kings of Nitro” crew will follow Erbacher and his team around town, including a Tuesday photo op at the Hard Rock Café.

On the job: E! Entertainment Television returns to Las Vegas for an hour-long special devoted to “12 Sexiest Vegas Jobs,” scheduled to air early next year. Potential Glitter City winners range from UFC ring girl to stripper students at the Planet Hollywood Resort’s Miracle Mile Shops — to say nothing of bartenders at Treasure Island’s Kahunaville and New York-New York’s Coyote Ugly.

Fright nights: A Fox Reality Channel pilot serves up horror how-tos at DreamVision Studios this week as performers attend “Scare School Las Vegas.”

The project features Lynton V. Harris of Sudden Impact! Entertainment, who has produced fright-based shows and attractions around the world, including at The Venetian’s Madame Tussauds.

In “Scare School,” Harris will train performers for the “House of Axe” attraction at next week’s Vegoose music festival at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Girl talk: “Who Cares About Girls”? That is the question for — and the title of — a TV documentary produced by National Geographic for cable’s Oxygen network. The show, which includes ride-alongs with Metropolitan Police Department vice bureau officers, is scheduled to wrap up a five-day visit Tuesday.

Magic time: Magician Will Roya plans to prove “Magic Tricks R 4 Kids” Friday and Saturday when he shoots four DVDs at PM Digital Group. About 15 kids join Roya and his co-host, fellow magician Joan DuKore for the instructional DVDs, to be released early next year.
