UFC president Dana White says Donald Trump may attend UFC 205

UFC 205 is expected to set a gate-record at historic Madison Square Garden in New York when the official number is announced on Saturday night.

The event may be just as historic for who is in the crowd.

UFC president Dana White hinted to TMZ on Thursday that President-elect Donald Trump may attend the fights.

“Donald originally told me he’d come to the fight if he won (the election),” White said on Thursday. “I don’t think Donald originally realized what his duties would be. I think he’s meeting with Obama today.”

Trump was in Washington D.C. to meet with President Barack Obama on Thursday, per tradition.

White and Trump have been friends for more than 16 years when they worked together to bring an event to Atlantic City, N.J., when UFC was struggling to find places willing to book their fight cards.

The bombastic promoter even spoke on Trump’s behalf at the Republican National Convention.

“No pressure,” White said of his friend’s possible attendance. “But it wouldn’t suck if he came.”

White actually attended the post-election party with the Trump family on Tuesday night. He said he was in his hotel room watching election results when a family member called him and invited him.

“I’m happy for him,” White said. “Hopefully he gets in there and does some good things for this country.”

UFC 205 will be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Conor McGregor and champion Eddie Alvarez.
