Silva stops Browne in UFC heavyweight fight
MINNEAPOLIS – Heavyweight Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva earned his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, stopping Travis Browne at 3:27 of the first round in the main event of UFC on FX 5.
Also on the card, John Dodson became the No. 1 contender for the flyweight title with a second-round technical knockout over Jussier Formiga. Las Vegan Jay Hieron, fighting in the UFC for the first time since 2005, dropped a unanimous decision to Jake Ellenberger in a welterweight bout.
