Las Vegan Kevin Lee added to ‘TUF’ Finale at the MGM Grand
Las Vegan Kevin Lee has been added to the Ultimate Fighting Championship card on July 8 at the MGM Grand and will face Jake Matthews in a lightweight bout.
Lee replaces Scottish fighter Stevie Ray, who was pulled from the event due to visa issues.
The new matchup, part of the Season 23 finale card for “The Ultimate Fighter,” will feature two of the youngest fighters in the organization.
Matthews, who is 4-1 in the organization, has won two consecutive fights since the only loss of his career to James Vick in 13 months ago. The 21-year-old submitted Johnny Case in the third round of a March bout in Brisbane.
Lee, 23, has won five of his last six since losing his UFC debut in 2014. He had a four-fight winning streak snapped with a first-round knockout loss to Leonardo Santos in December, but rebounded to beat Efrain Escudero by unanimous decision in April.
The card, part of three consecutive nights of UFC events in Las Vegas culminating with UFC 200 on July 9 at T-Mobile Arena, also features the two season title bouts from the reality show and a women’s strawweight title bout between Claudia Gadelha and champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
