Late grand slam lifts Rams, 17-16

Rancho’s Alex Gonzalez hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Rams rallied for a 17-16 victory over Canyon Springs in prep baseball Tuesday at Rivera Park.

Rancho trailed 16-12 entering the bottom of the seventh.

James Crockett and Coleman Green each hit three-run homers for Rancho, and Abel Tuinei went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Demetrius Pipkin went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Pioneers.

Bonanza 13, Bishop Gorman 9 — At Hadland Park, the Bengals scored once in the top of the seventh to force extra innings, and Sean McInerney scored the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice by Jordan Hanley in the ninth as Bonanza beat the Gaels.

The Bengals’ Ryan Pineda went 4-for-5 with a double, two triples and a home run. He drove in four runs and scored three.

Gorman’s Taylor Cole was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBIs.

Eldorado 7, Desert Pines 6 — At Eldorado, Will Keith singled home Miguel Solis with two outs in the seventh to lift the Sundevils over the Jaguars.

Eldorado’s Oscar Nuno was 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs.

Valley 12, Chaparral 5 — At Valley, Daniel Horne hit an inside-the-park home run and went 3-for-5 with three runs to lead the Vikings over the Cowboys.

Valley’s Chris Jones was 3-for-3 with a double. Taylor Warf went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple for Chaparral.

Sierra Vista 20, Spring Valley 7 — At Spring Valley, Lance Ray was 4-for-5 with a grand slam, a triple, five RBIs and four runs to lead the Lions to the six-inning victory.

Sierra Vista’s Rich Michelin was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs and Chris Krumme was 4-for-5 with four RBIs.

Durango 10, Clark 0 — At Durango, Joey Indivino, Danny Reynolds and Kyle Dimartino combined on a two-hitter as the Trailblazers beat the Chargers in five innings.

Niko Vasquez went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs for Durango.

Faith Lutheran 4-14, Pahrump Valley 1-2 — At Pahrump, the Crusaders swept the doubleheader.

Adam Jones was 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases to lead the Crusaders in the second game. Dylan Young had two hits and an RBI in the first game and earned the victory in Game 2.

SOFTBALL

Rancho 5, Canyon Springs 0 — At Rancho, Jesslyn Bley threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Rams.

Bley went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Amerissa Villamar was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Rancho.

Durango 2, Clark 1 — At Durango, Jaexie Balilea scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the third and Nicole Herrera pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts as the Trailblazers beat the Chargers.

Clark’s Jordyn McDonald threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

Sierra Vista 6, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Sierra Vista’s Rachel Johnson was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Lions over the Grizzlies.

Kelsey McCoy threw a three-hitter to get the victory.

Valley 14, Chaparral 4 — At Valley, Cristina Medina went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Vikings to a five-inning victory.

Valley’s Vannessa Corona and Britney Burnett each went 2-for-3.

Bonanza 13, Bishop Gorman 3 — At West Flamingo Park, Aimee Doyle went 3-for-4 to lead the Bengals over the Gaels.

Samantha Snyder threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks to get the win.

Eldorado 8, Desert Pines 5 — At Eldorado, Kylee Pictum and Kari Hansen each hit a home run to lead the Sundevils past the Jaguars.

Pahrump Valley 3-6, Faith Lutheran 1-4 — At Pahrump, Ashleah Barney threw a two-hitter in the first game and picked up a save in the second as the Trojans swept the Crusaders.
