HORSE RACING
TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK
By Richard Eng
Post Time 7:05 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $25,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
A Fleet Pace – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to claiming; sprinter stretching out will be forwardly placed.
Royal Change – Another taking the big drop from MSW to claiming; like the Solis barn for live long shots, fit from turf routes.
Long Shot – In My Glory
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 4-year-olds and up
McNasty – With a red flag drop in class like this, he could win by 5-lengths or not make the trip; watch closely in the warm ups.
Enter Anon – Ran a career topper by many lengths in last, key is if he’ll bounce to the moon; has back class where he could repeat.
Long Shot – Lone Prairie
Race 3 – 6 furlongs, $75,000 Harry Henson, 3-year-olds
Bitter Bill – Has run second to some quick ones of late; should sit a perfect stalking trip, but will need the speedball to quit.
Hurry Home Warren – Speedball figures to play simple tactics tonight, go as fast and as far as he can; not sure why Talamo is off.
Long Shot – Vaunt
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds
Kinsaler – I do not like any of those with racing experience; this FTS from Gallagher has excellent win early pedigree, interesting.
Instant Action – I respect babies coming out of the Koriner barn, they are usually ready to roll; square price at 6/1 odds.
Long Shot – Battle Too
Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Starter allowance $40,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Chanel My Belle – Responded to the class drop from MSW to claiming with a convincing win; similar try by her would beat these.
It’s Another Story – Showed high cheese in last to graduate Cadillac style; suspect she’ll be sent hard and play catch me if you can.
Long Shot – Do It Topper Style
Race 6 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $48,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
Legate – Chance to get some value because this guy isn’t trained by Frankel; third start off a 3-month hiatus could be his best.
Mi Arcobaleno – Logical chalk from the Frankel barn figures to be overbet with Talamo riding; saves all the ground and grinds late.
Long Shot – Seastate
Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $28,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
Awesome Beginning – Ran miserably down the hillside turf course in last; returns to dirt where he’s much better, will fly late.
Watch Me Win – Speedy sort will probably be sent and hope to control the pace; like the Sherman barn and Court can nurse her energy.
Long Shot – Blue Cay
Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $51,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up
Really Indian – Should be dead fit off two turf routes, returns to Cushion track; Talamo will probably keep him covered up early.
Like New Money – Beat Cal-breds and remains eligible for the condition facing open company; tactical speed to sit a perfect trip.
Long Shot – Mister Triester
Race 9 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
Came True – Did a classic pop and stop last time facing much better; like the rider switch to Gryder who has simple tactics here.
Can Do Can Do – Regressed last time after a sharp try two races ago; tactical speed where she’ll be in the hunt throughout.
Long Shot – Candygram
Best Bet – Chanel My Belle (race 5)
Hollywood Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/3/$21.00; Long Shots, 7/1/$34.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Hollywood Totals – 32/7/$52.20; Long Shots, 14/2/$74.00; Best Bets, 2/0/$0
