Gorman rips Florida school in tournament
Bishop Gorman’s Taylor Cole was 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs and four RBIs to lead the Gaels to an 11-2 baseball win over Cypress Bay (Fla.) in the Bishop Gorman/Calvary Chapel Easter Bash at Basic High School on Thursday.
Brandon Garcia was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI for the Gaels. Gorman led 3-2 before scoring six runs in the fifth.
• Del Sol 8, West Jordan (Utah) 2 — At Del Sol, Brian Madrid was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs as the Dragons defeated the Jaguars.
Kory Hurst was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Del Sol, which scored five runs in the bottom of the first.
• La Salle (Calif.) 1, Rancho 0 — At Valley, Troy Whitehead’s RBI single in the top of the seventh provided the only run.
Matt Kohorst pitched a two-hitter to get the win. Rancho’s James Crockett allowed four hits.
• Rancho 9, Churchill County 1 — At Warren-Walker, Justin Neubauer threw a complete game with 17 strikeouts as the Rams defeated the Greenwave.
Alex Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a home run, and Crockett was 3-for-4 with a double.
• Jordan (Utah) 5, Cimarron-Memorial 3 — At Cimarron, Tyler Anderson had two RBIs and was the winning pitcher to lead the Beetdiggers over the Spartans in eight innings.
Jordan scored once in the seventh to tie, then won the game with a two-run eighth.
Travis Feiner had a double and an RBI for Cimarron.
• Mountain View (Utah) 8, Chaparral 1 — At Del Sol, Tanner Young went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs and Danny Nelson threw a five-hitter to lead the Bruins past the Cowboys.
Chaparral’s Cory Schaefer hit a double.
LIONS TOURNAMENT
• Green Valley 7, Fallbrook (Calif.) 2 — At Fallbrook, Calif., Tyler Jones went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Gators to victory at the Mike Morrow Lions Tournament.
Kyle Konicek and Jeremy Murray each had two hits and two RBIs and Jordan Van Hoosier had two hits and two runs for Green Valley, which went 2-2 in the tournament.
• Kennedy (Calif.) 6, Silverado 5 — At San Diego, the Skyhawks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh but left the tying run at third.
Jordan Keegan, Pierce Belaustegui and Tony Valiente each went 2-for-3 for Silverado. Valiente had a double for the Skyhawks’ only extra-base hit.
• Rancho Buena Vista (Calif.) 5, Spring Valley 1 — At San Diego, pitcher Jimmy Maxwell allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings and tripled to help the Longhorns beat the Grizzlies in the Lions Tournament.
Maxwell gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six. Todd Sepulveda had two hits and two RBIs for Rancho Buena Vista.
Spring Valley’s Jeremy Kudoich went 2-for-2, and teammate Austin Hunt hit a double.
