BYU moves up to No. 19; Ohio State remains No. 1

A week after the Southeastern Conference set a record with 10 teams in the Associated Press Top 25, three dropped out after weekend losses and Auburn fell 12 spots in the poll released Sunday.

Also, BYU entered the Top 25 for the first time this season after two dramatic wins to open the season.

Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi State all lost at home on Saturday and disappeared from the rankings. Auburn avoided an upset at home with an overtime win over Jacksonville State but tumbled from No. 6 to No. 18.

Ohio State maintained the No. 1 spot, but is no longer a unanimous pick. Michigan State received two first-place votes and rose to No. 4 overall after its 31-28 victory over Oregon in East Lansing, Mich.

Alabama stayed at No. 2 and TCU at No. 3. Following Michigan State were Baylor, USC, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida State and UCLA.

Arkansas lost to Toledo, Tennessee fell in overtime to Oklahoma and Mississippi State dropped its SEC opener to LSU, which moved up to No. 11 in the poll this week.
