Cochran leads Liberty on both ends of court
Daynice Cochran had 12 points and 10 rebounds to help Liberty’s girls basketball team edge visiting Eldorado 64-59 Thursday.
Jade Washington added 11 points and 11 assists for the Patriots, and Je’nai Fuentes and Amanda Delgado each scored 10 points.
Tonisha McGee led Eldorado with 19 points, and Jamie Clark added 15.
• Mojave 67, Western 38 — At Western, Duke-bound Chelsea Hopkins had a game-high 37 points as the Rattlers rolled over the Warriors.
Collanique Warner scored 12 points to lead Western.
• Basic 69, Chaparral 33 — At Basic, the Wolves dominated the Cowboys in the first and fourth quarters on the way to an easy win.
Lauren Johnson had 18 points, nine steals and seven assists for Basic, which led 19-5 after the first quarter and outscored Chaparral 26-3 in the fourth.
• Tech 42, Rancho 32 — At Rancho, Mechel’la Logan led a balanced attack with 12 points to help the Roadrunners finish strong.
Candy DeLaTorre added 11 points for Tech, and Chalon Reynolds scored 10.
Khalia Branch had 20 points for the Rams.
• Bonanza 79, Arbor View 40 — At Bonanza, Christin Figgins led five scorers in double figures with 18 points as the Bengals rolled.
Terra Novack (16 points), Jill Gentile (14), Datril Beals (10) and Aimee Doyle (10) combined to score 50 for Bonanza. Laura Nelson added 14 rebounds.
Erika Lang led the Aggies with 18 points, and JaLessa Williams added 11.
• Spanish Springs 70, Coronado 35 — At Coronado, Jordan Rogers scored 25 points to lead Spanish Springs.
Courtney Darby added 16 for Spanish Springs, which led 19-6 after the first quarter.
Danielle Boyle and Cory Bradley scored eight points each for the Cougars.
• Galena 57, Centennial 47 — At Reno, the Grizzlies outscored the Bulldogs 27-1 from the free-throw line to earn the win.
Deanna Daniels led Centennial with 13 points.
• Faith Lutheran 59, Lowry 50 — At Winnemucca, Sabby Yeghiaziarian scored 17 points to help the Crusaders open the Lowry Tournament with a victory.
Meghann Smith added 12 points and Seanie Petersen 11 for Faith Lutheran.
Savannah Carlow led the Buckaroos with 24 points.
• The Meadows 30, Pahrump Valley 24 — At Calvary Chapel, Bonnie McKnight scored 10 points to propel the Mustangs past the Trojans in the opening round of the Lake Mead/Calvary Chapel Tournament.
BOYS
• Arbor View 57, Bonanza 55 — At Bonanza, Darington Banks scored 14 points, and the Aggies held on to win when the Bengals’ last-second shot from three-quarters court bounced off the back of the rim.
Brooks Robinson added 12 points for Arbor View, who led 39-29 entering the fourth quarter. Jimmy Graham and Pierson Heath each had 10 points.
Matt Andrews led Bonanza with 21 points. Tomo Delp added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Bengals.
• Liberty 63, Eldorado 52 — At Liberty, Milos Knezevic supplied 19 points and nine rebounds to help the Patriots defeat the Sundevils.
Justin King added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Liberty. Kenneth Peters had 12 points and brother Cameron Peters contributed 11 points and six assists.
Eldorado’s Curtis Malone had 17 points.
• Mojave 80, Western 38 — At Western, Darian Norris scored 28 points, and the Rattlers bolted to a 52-19 halftime lead in a rout of the Warriors.
Anthony Marshall added 20 points for the Rattlers.
Kevin James scored 12 points to lead Mojave.
• Centennial 62, Clark 32 — At Clark, Adam Young had 14 points to help the Bulldogs defeat the Chargers.
Matt Holley had 12 points and Ben Vozzola 11 for the Bulldogs.
Isidro Garcia led Clark with 11 points.
• Chaparral 44, Basic 29 — At Basic, the Cowboys overcame a scoreless second quarter to beat the Wolves.
James Allison had 11 points and Tyquiese Anthony and Cardale Spencer each scored 10 for Chaparral, which outscored Basic 34-14 in the second half.
Josh Ross topped Basic with 11 points.
• Hurricane (Utah) 55, Moapa Valley 41 — At Moapa Valley, Shaun Hilton had 14 points and six rebounds in the Pirates’ loss.
