MGM Resorts sports book bettor wins $250K on 5-team parlay

Updated September 18, 2017 - 10:20 pm

An MGM Resorts sports book bettor won $250,000 Monday night when the Lions beat the Giants 24-10 to close out his $8,500 five-team parlay.

The unidentified bettor hit the first four legs of the parlay on Sunday when the Ravens, Patriots, Chiefs and Raiders all covered as favorites. The final leg of the ticket was Detroit on the money line, meaning the 3-point underdog had to win the game outright over New York.

The Lions never trailed and all but sealed the victory and quarter-million dollar payout when Jamal Agnew returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter for a 24-10 lead.

The Giants, who failed to score 20 points for the eighth straight game despite getting star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. back from injury, were stopped on downs on their next two possessions.

According to MGM Resorts sports book director Jay Rood, the same bettor also won $30,000 on Sunday with a $5,000 three-team parlay on the Ravens, Chiefs and Raiders.

“He’s already on a free roll,” Rood said before the game.
