By Richard Eng
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Lady Shazzam – Raced for a $20K price tag two races ago and ran a good third; could wake up first time on dirt.
3 Tiz Lovely – Ran miserably last time after three OK races in a row; has good early speed to lead or follow up close.
Long Shot – 8 Grand Corredora
Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $47,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
1 Ondine – Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry so caveat emptor; Rafael Bejarano exits Vixen to ride this talented filly.
4 Wednesday – Ran a huge second in debut for Carla Gaines; should relish the added distance by Medaglia d’Oro.
Long Shot – 6 Vixen
Race 3 – 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $30,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Slammer Time – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this career low class; need not be much to handle these for Marty Jones.
1 Scorpion Time – Claimed by Kristin Mulhall at Del Mar and sat upon for this; should save all the ground inside tonight.
Long Shot – 2 Big Son of a Gun
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Allowance, Fillies, 2-year-olds
2 Beholder – Suspect will be a single on many pick 5 and pick 6 tickets; avoided Executiveprivilege in the Chandelier.
5 Mechaya – She has the right stuff to upset the chalk; did not run badly in the Del Mar Debutante in second career start.
Long Shot – 7 Midnight Ballet
Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $47,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds and up
3 Sumerian – Typical green debut, off slowly but fast late; he cost $230K for Julio Canani so he’s meant to be a good one.
12 Money Talker – Favorite must draw in off the also eligible list; flew home late in last in a much improved effort.
Long Shot – Unusual Beam
Race 6 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
8 Floating Feather – Exits two straight wins including one at this $25K class two races back; need only repeat those efforts.
2 Vadertore – He clearly fits in this class and 8/1 is good value; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.
Long Shot – 4 Morning Fog
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
10 Ms. G. I. Jane – Like the parking lot post down the hillside turf course; speed should fare well with the rail out 24 feet.
3 West Ruler – Tepid chalk for Rafael Bejarano who had a big grade 1 weekend; huge class drop can only help.
Long Shot – 2 Cayanna
Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $18,000, Claiming $10,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 Deputiformer – Dallas Keen has won with 3-of-5 horses after taking the blinkers off; should save all the ground inside.
3 Morganouska – Chantal Sutherland is the forgotten rider after losing the mount on Game On Dude; she could struggle finding work.
Long Shot – 2 Cook Inlet
Best Bet – 1 Ondine (race 2)
Santa Anita Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/5/$30.40; Long Shots, 10/1/$8.20; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.80
