4 Midnight Candy – Her one turf race was a solid third right here at Del Mar; claimed two back by trainer Rafael Becerra.

3 Watdifrenzdzitmake – Tries turf for the first time; exits a good looking maiden claiming win, now facing winners for the first time.

Long Shot – 6 Seek Safe Harbor

Race 2 – 1 mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds

2 Olivia’s Greatdane – Ran a typical green debut, slow early, fast late; Bob Baffert babies improve with racing experience.

5 Conquest Superstep – Mark Casse has done well indoctrinating himself to SoCal racing; this Super Saver colt will keep improving.

Long Shot – 1 Bayonet

Race 3 – 7 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

3 Luckbox Sam – If you follow me, you know I like cutback horses; this one has lots of early speed, Pick 6 has a $42K carryover.

6 Memphis – The last two wins have been a long time coming; claimed by Bob Hess, he uses his main man Kent Desormeaux for Iggy Puglisi.

Long Shot – 7 Justification

Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $56,000, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Three Blondes – Speedy sort gets an interesting rider switch to HOF Gary Stevens; he might put this one on the early lead.

4 Temeeku – Rafael Bejarano had choices and opted to ride for Peter Eurton; won her MSW in last and was disqualified to second.

Long Shot – 2 Bilger’s Sapphire

Race 5 – 1 mile, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Gabby’s Purim – Takes a huge class drop for Bob Hess; first time on synthetics, but has the back class to win despite that.

1 Jetbird – Speed and the rail is always worth considering; simple tactics for a good speed rider, Edwin Maldonado.

Long Shot – 3 Cayanna

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 2-year-olds

6 Mischief Clem – He may not want to go 2-turns, but could be a very effective sprinter; like the blinkers on for a lot more focus.

7 Tizcano – Speedball did a classic pop and stop in the Juvenile Turf Sprint; this is a much easier group than he faced that day.

Long Shot – 4 Peacenluvpeacenluv

Race 7 – 5 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $65,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

7 Biorhythm – Turf specialist should enjoy the rail out 24 feet; the further out the rail is, the more it aids horses with early speed.

9 Stars Above Me – An angle I always like is when a jockey has only one mount on the card; especially when the rider is HOF Mike Smith.

Long Shot – 3 Heat Trap

Race 8 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

8 Thesheetsguy – Looked like a different animal last time wearing blinkers on for the first time; repeat race could finally do it.

2 Warrior’s Ridge – Sliding down the maiden claiming ladder to this bottom rung; has run races fast enough to defeat this group.

Long Shot – 3 Dead Easy
