Horse Racing, Santa Anita Park, March 30
Today at Santa Anita Park
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $40,000, Claiming $40,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
2 Talktoomuch – Has settled into a comfort zone as a late closing sprinter; won and sliding down the claiming ladder for Mike Mitchell.
4 Linda Lou – Richard Mandella races very few culls; while he’s trying to get ride of her, key vote comes from Joel Rosario riding.
Long Shot – 6 Missdealornodeal
Race 2 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $26,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
5 Tripped the Light – Been claimed in 5 of her last 9 races; biggest vote is she is reclaimed by Bob Hess.
2 Really Elegant – Speedball best chance of winning is bottoming out the field; plays catch me if you can.
Long Shot – 1 Living Our Dream
Race 3 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $58,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
7 Deity – Loses her jockey to the favorite, but Joel Rosario is a capable sub; she may fly with the turf rail out 30 feet.
5 Schiaparelli – Exciting debut win, albeit 10-months ago; the main question is fitness, she was stopped for some sort of problem.
Long Shot – 3 Princess Suances
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up
5 Folk Dancer – Tiny edge in a very pedestrian race; she won two races back, but is capable of doing even better.
6 Storm Magic – Claimed by a low percentage trainer Edward Freeman and cut back in distance; watch the tote board for clues.
Long Shot – 3 Flashy Traveler
Race 5 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $26,000, 4-year-olds and up
1 Clearance Clarence – The Jeff Mullins barn is in high gear once again; along with a big trainer switch comes Joel Rosario.
3 Warrens Wild Thing – Dead late closer figures to sit in arrears and come running late; Kevin Krigger is doing some good work this meet.
Long Shot – 7 Warren’s Kong
Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 4-year-olds and up
6 Salty Robbin – This one is for forgiving handicappers only; lost rider in last, but was competitive in this bottom class.
3 Smart Hombre – An auspicious loss in last at 2/5 odds; will be a better price today, but instills modest confidence.
Long Shot – 8 Kumite
Race 7 – 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 30 feet), Purse $63,000, Allowance, 4-year-olds and up
8 Red Defense – Parking lot post is a good stall down the hillside turf course; like the turn back in distance from a mile for this.
4 Victory Pete – Was a non-factor in the Big Cap, so he shouldn’t even be tired; comfort zone on turf and facing this caliber.
Long Shot – 6 Mobilized
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Sea John’s Spirit – Was well bet in debut with Rafael Bejarano; second start is on dirt with Joel Rosario up, respect.
3 Royal Weekend – The class difference between Cal-bred MSW and $40K is not much; should good energy in her career debut.
Long Shot – 7 Mary Contrary
Best Bet – 2 Talktoomuch (race 1)
