Horse Racing, Hollywood Park, July 5
Today at Hollywood Park
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 – 6 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Claiming $20,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds
1 Attack the Jack – Figures to be the shortest price on the card; has winning ways and appears plain faster than these.
3 No Tricks for Jack – Could be a Jack exacta; she looks a little cheap but the key for me is she is in top form off a win.
Long Shot – 4 Pearlz Girl
Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $29,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Balentina – Two good seconds point to some consistency; tactical speed and a parking lot post to clock the early speed.
1 Revered – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; Ron Ellis is also adding blinkers on too.
Long Shot – 5 Taking Form
Race 3 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000,3-year-olds and up
5 Jim’s Decision – Rafael Bejarano is now winning at a 30 percent plus clip; helps that Joel Rosario is planted in New York.
3 Temerity – Ron Ellis is having a solid Hollywood meet; he always seems to do his best over the home track in Inglewood.
Long Shot – 1 Joe Carl
Race 4 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 A Moment in Time – Ran like a short horse in last off a 11-month hiatus; this clearly is an easier spot and he’ll be tighter.
1 Warren’s Kong – Closed well last time for second at 15/1 odds; he will sit in arrears and make one big brush.
Long Shot – 6 Showmethemoneyjim
Race 5 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Filly Power – Ran miserably in her turf debut last time; she is much better over synthetics so she can rebound in a big way.
10 Roman Charity – Drops in class to the lowest level of her career; she clearly runs fast enough to be in the number.
Long Shot – 11 Hey I’m Sobaa
Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Smart and Single – FTS from Bob Baffert; he has an uncoupled entry and has been winning races with everything in sight.
7 Golden Production – Good debut for Ron Ellis; his babies do improve with experience so expect a step forward today.
Long Shot – 4 Princess Ash
Race 7 – 1 1/16th miles, Purse $38,000, Starter allowance $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Lilly’s Perfect – Dead late closer could be closer due to a paceless looking race; like that Garrett Gomez takes the call.
4 Really Elegant – Claimed by Linda Mikus and popped right back with Rafael Bejarano up; he figures to be unstoppable at Del Mar.
Long Shot – 2 Tripped the Light
Race 8 – 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 You’re Joking – Don’t be shocked if Rafael Bejarano wins 3 or 4 more races; he is live with everything he rides today.
7 Rock Off – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; his synthetic experience is tepid at best.
Long Shot – 2 St. Sincere
Best Bet – 7 Filly Power (race 5)
Betfair Hollywood Park Wednesday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 14/4/$16.00; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$3.60
