Horse racing, Hollywood Park, July 15

Today at Hollywood Park

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 – 6 furlongs (turf), Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

5 Creditcardroulette – Her turf debut was a promising one; if she improves one step she’ll be awful tough.

3 Chloe W – Been away a full year; resume shows two stakes in 2011 so this is a much easier spot to return in.

Long Shot – 4 Urania

Race 2 – 5 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, 2-year-olds

9 Our Trooper – Showed a lot of improvement in his second career start; should get value from this low percentage combination.

1 Never Say Know – Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; FTS from Vann Belvoir does not need to be much horse to win.

Long Shot – 7 Romar Success

Race 3 – 1 1/2 miles (turf), $100,000 Sunset Handicap, 3-year-olds and up

4 Dhaamer – Sharp win early in the meet in the Round Table; if he repeats that race he’ll get his picture taken again.

3 Juniper Pass – Ran OK in a good version of the Whittingham last time; has enough tactical speed for Rafael Bejarano to use.

Long Shot – 2 Quaintly

Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $26,000, Claiming $16,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Woodman’s Lass – The combon of Iggy Puglisi and Paul Aguirre is nearly unstoppable; you have to use them because they are in play.

1 Laura’s Pleasure – Logical chalk ran for this $16K class two races ago and won; she ran a better than looked race in last.

Long Shot – 5 Kiss My Swiss

Race 5 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

4 Three Cuties – More from Iggy Puglisi and Paul Aguirre; this one is stretching out around 2-turns first time in a while.

7 Around the Twig – Big class drop running for at $25K price tag; ran like she needed her last race off a 9-month hiatus.

Long Shot – 6 Warren’s Lover

Race 6 – 7 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up

1 Nextdoorneighbor – Bob Baffert puts some icing on an incredible Hollywood meet; this one he claimed for Bob Badaeker.

7 Sequoia Warrior – Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry and this one is the favorite; flattered when John Scott won next time out.

Long Shot – 3 Stoneside

Race 7 – 7 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up

2 What a Rush – You get value on Mike Mitchell because of a moribund last race; key for me is his race two back is a good one.

1 Last Memories – Dead late closer draws the rail, which can be a problem; Joe Talamo takes back and circles wide late.

Long Shot – 8 Depth

Race 8 – 1 mile (turf), Purse $31,000, Maiden claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up

7 Montego Bay – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSw to maiden claiming; need not be much in a very sad group.

5 Silent Bidder – Ran poorly in debut but picks up Rafael Bejarano; sometimes you let the jockey agent handicap for you.

Long Shot – 3 Tanjero

Race 9 – 6 furlongs, Purse $55,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

3 Top Debutante – This race is jammed with early speed; David Flores should sit in arrears and time a wide late rally.

6 Moonstruck Maya – Was scratched on Saturday for this; like the early speed and the parking lot post, has won two straight.

Long Shot – 5 Candrea

Race 10 – 7 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up

14 Visionary Man – Beaten favorite has an edge of facing an even slower field; parking lot post in the meet finale, see you at Del Mar.

12 Coranto – Typical green debut, slow early but fast late; if he breaks sharper today his task will be much easier.

Long Shot – 1 Temple of Gold

Best Bet – 14 Visionary Man (race 10)

Betfair Hollywood Park Saturday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 20/4/$17.60; Long Shots, 10/2/$25.00; Best Bet, 1/1/$2.60

Betfair Hollywood Park Totals – 821/222/$1,355.40; Long Shots, 409/58/$596.00; Best Bets, 42/17/$63.80

SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #7 Sylvestris (3/1) in race 1 at Belmont Park. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Saturday, Rahystrada won at Arlington Park paying $10.60 to win, $4.60 to place and $3.20 to show. Stats – 107/74/$621.90; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
