Race 1 – 7 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $10,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 My Man Sumo – Chalky looking opener with this Ron Ellis cull leading the way; moves from post 10 to the inside today.
4 Miles Heir – Claimed by Vann Belvoir who is winning at a gaudy 32 percent first time out for the new barn.
Long Shot – 3 Trumpet Player jay
Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
7 Tiz a Brite Miss – Suspect will sit a trip today under patient Alonso Quinonez; this primary speed is to her inside.
3 Propero – Mike Mitchell cull has dropped down the this bottom maiden claiming level; expect Martin Garcia to send hard early.
Long Shot – 8 La Sancha
Race 3 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $35,000, Claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds and up
2 Red Defense – Claimed by Adam Kitchingman off a sharp win last out; has more than enough back class to duplicate the effort.
6 Mandated Bliss – Mike Mitchell drop down finally found a level to win at; takes a subtle class rise, but he has back class too.
Long Shot – 3 The Great Caper
Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
2 Dime Piece – Two good seconds, now appears ready for graduation day; this looks like a potential live key baby race.
3 Elusive Jackpot – Bob Baffert has an uncoupled entry and both appear ready to fire; watch the tote board for additional clues.
Long Shot – 4 Distracting
Race 5 – 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $20,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
7 Kumite – Tepid chalk has sliding Beyer speed figures off the claim by Kristin Mulhall; he’s got a big shot if he runs his best.
4 Soi Phet – Like the turn back in distance from 2-turn route to elongated sprint; suspect will be firing best in the deep stretch.
Long Shot – 5 Member Ofthe Tribe
Race 6 – 7 1/2 furlongs, Purse $52,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
9 Blu Jon – This horse has two things going that I love; he is cutting back in distance and parked outside in an elongated sprint.
5 Gatheratthealter – Bob Baffert claimed a lot of nice runners for the Live Your Dream Stable; it’s managed by Bob Baedeker.
Long Shot – 4 Oilisblackgold
Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 10 feet), Purse $50,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Angel’s Moon – Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; Bruce Headley barn has not won a lot, but a lot of his horses have run well.
2 Horsesanddivorces – Outran her 28/1 odds in debut when in the hunt throughout; key vote will be if she improves a step tonight.
Long Shot – 1 Autumn View
Race 8 – 1 1/16th miles, $150,000 Hollywood Oaks, Fillies, 3-year-olds
4 Eden’s Moon – Expect short odds on one of the leaders in the division; draw a line thru the KY Oaks debacle, she is legit.
1 Willa B Awesome – Though she won by only a nose in the Melair, it was a much slower race than in the Santa Anita Oaks.
Long Shot – 7 Via Villaggio
Race 9 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Aunt Gert – Julio Canani puts up the shingle by dropping her to the bottom rung; need not be much to crush this motley crew.
5 Lauren’s Lady – Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; a stick out compared to the others.
Long Shot – 2 Secret Genius
Best Bet – 9 Blu Jon (race 6)
