Taylor Griffin struggles
Big brother appears to have set the bar pretty low for little brother as Taylor Griffin’s first taste of NBA life wasn’t much to brag about. He had just four points and two rebounds for Phoenix as the Suns defeated Dallas, 95-90 in Cox Pavilion.
Taylor, a second-round pick, struggled to get into any kind of flow. He almost seemed lost out there at times. But it was the first real game he played in since March, so let’s cut him a little slack. Still, he needs to play a lot better than this if he is to have a future in the league beyond this week.
Blake warming up
As Taylor Griffin was leaving the court, Blake Griffin was across the way at the Thomas & Mack Center, getting loose for his NBA debut as the Clippers prepare to take on the Lakers at 5:30.
The parking lot in front of the Thomas & Mack was full like it would be for a UNLV game or the National Finals Rodeo. Granted, part of the congestion is due to summer school, but the summer league filled a lot of spaces as well.
Summer league officials are estimated between 5,000 and 6,000 are expected for Griffin’s debut.

Beaubois hurt
Mavdericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois, who had scored 34 points less than 24 hours before, hurt his right knee late in the Mavs-Suns game and had to be carried off the court. He had 16 points when he was injured. We’ll get you an update on his condition shortly.
