Giants pitcher Hudson ‘pretty sure’ he’ll retire after 2015 season
San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Hudson is leaning toward the 2015 season being his last in the major leagues.
The 39-year-old veteran said Tuesday at a charity event at Auburn, where he played college baseball, that he plans to complete a two-year, $23 million contract with the Giants and then he’s “pretty sure that’s going to be it.”
Hudson won his first World Series championship ring in October after 16 seasons in the major leagues. He started Game 7 against the Kansas City Royals.
After an ankle injury ended his 2013 season with the Atlanta Braves, Hudson rebounded with the Giants and started 31 games during the regular season in 2014. He posted a 9-13 record with a 3.57 ERA.
Hudson, who turns 40 in July, has a 214-124 career record with a 3.46 ERA.
