Cubs-Mets spring training series in Las Vegas set with afternoon games
Game times for the Big League Weekend spring training games between the Chicago Cubs and the New York Mets at Cashman Field have been set with afternoon starts, the team announced Wednesday.
The games, which mark the 12th consecutive season the Chicago Cubs will visit Cashman Field, are set for a 5:05 p.m. start on Thursday, March 31, and a 1:05 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 1.
The March 31 game will be televised by Comcast SportsNet Chicago and the April 1 game will be broadcast by WGN.
Chicago is led by NL Rookie of the Year Kris Bryant, who is a Las Vegas native. The Mets will likely bring many former 51s, including catcher Travis d’Arnaud, right-hander Jacob deGrom, first baseman Lucas Duda, right-hander Jeurys Familia , shortstop Wilmer Flores, outfielder Juan Lagares and right-hander Noah Syndergaard.
The Las Vegas 51s, whose parent club are the National League champion New York Mets, will host the event. The series will end spring training for both teams and features a rematch of last fall’s National League Championship Series. Both teams are expected to bring their final opening day rosters.
The Cubs have sold out 16 games at Cashman Field during their past 11 visits. The Mets have made a previous visit to Cashman Field , facing the Cubs for two games in 2014. Ticket packages are on sale at the 51s office.
