Robert Carson picked up his fifth save, surviving a two-on, two-out jam in the ninth inning.
Jordany Valdespin drove in two of Las Vegas’ runs with singles in the second and sixth innings. Matt den Dekker accounted for the other run with a home run in the seventh.
The 51s (50-46) are 7-2 against Reno (41-58) and have won four in a row. This game was the opener of a four-game set in Reno and eight straight games between the clubs.
The 51s moved within 1½ games of first-place Tucson (53-46) in the Pacific Southern Division.
