Angels VP resigns after comments about fan attendance
Remarks about how Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno caters to wealthy fans and ignores those with less money has led to the resignation of a team vice president.
Earlier this month, Robert Alvarado, vice president of marketing and ticket sales, said the team neglects “people on the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder.”
Alvarado was discussing the Angels’ declining attendance when he made the comments. He resigned last week.
Vice president of communications Tim Mead told the Los Angeles Times that Alvarado “made a personal decision to resign from the organization” and “we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Alvarado had been with the Angels organization for 15 years.
