Woman indicted in slaying
A grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday for a woman accused of killing her poker-player husband in a posh Las Vegas condo.
Jill Rockcastle will face a charge of murder with use of a deadly weapon in Clark County District Court, in the stabbing of William Gustafik, who was known in poker circles as “The Manipulator.”
Gustafik, 44, was found dead in April in a condo at the Panorama Towers, 4525 Dean Martin Drive, near Harmon Avenue and Interstate 15. An anonymous tipster called police and told them they would find Gustafik dead there.
Prosecutor Sam Bateman said Rockcastle fled to California. San Luis Obispo police found the 49-year-old unconscious in a hotel room after an apparent suicide attempt.
She was extradited May 4 to the Clark County Detention Center, where she remains in custody with no bail set.
Bateman said Rockcastle wrote an e-mail prior an the attempt on her life that placed her in the condo at the time of the murder and connected her to the crime.
Rockcastle is represented by the public defender’s office. She will be arraigned May 31.
