Update of sex ed classes discussed
CARSON CITY — Sex education classes in public schools would include lessons on avoiding dating violence, abstinence and contraceptives if a new bill passes.
Democratic Assemblyman David Bobzien and Sen. Sheila Leslie on Friday are presenting AB314, which would update a section of Nevada law that prescribes the classes in general terms.
Courses must teach students about the benefits of abstinence as the only way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, while discussing the pros and cons of birth control methods.
