OSHA receives complaint about Legislative Building safety

CARSON CITY – Assemblyman Steven Brooks, D-North Las Vegas – arrested twice and banished from the Nevada Legislature in the past month – is on the radar of the state agency that regulates on-the-job safety as a possible workplace hazard.

The Division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration notified legislative staff that it had received a complaint of “an unstable and dangerous employee.”

Brooks since has been banned from the building and placed on leave .

In a response to the OSHA letter , Rick Combs, executive director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau, said the Legislature has taken steps to provide a safe work environment, including beefed-up security that entailed deactivating Brooks’ key card and installation of “a panic alarm button” for certain employees .
