Pancake breakfast to raise funds for Honor Flights from Las Vegas

Red Rock Harley-Davidson will host a pancake breakfast Saturday to raise money for Honor Flight Southern Nevada, a nonprofit organization that plans to fly 55 World War II veterans to see memorials in the Washington, D.C., area near the end of April.

The fundraiser will be from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Red Rock Harley-Davidson parking lot, 2260 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Sahara Avenue. A pancake breakfast ticket costs $5.

“We’re hoping to raise the least $8,000 for the flight, which will be from April 25 to 27,” said Belinda Morse, executive director of Honor Flight Southern Nevada, a volunteer-run group.

She said Southwest Airlines is donating 22 of the 83 tickets needed for the flight, which includes 55 World War II vets in addition to guardians who will travel with them. Funds are needed for the round-trip flights, hotel rooms, wheelchairs, bus transportation and meals.

Interested supporters who can’t attend the pancake breakfast can donate at the group’s website, HonorFlightSouthernNevada.org, or by calling its office, 702-749-5912.

The first trip for local veterans to visit the World War II Memorial with Honor Flight Southern Nevada was in October.
