Convicted murderer rolls eyes during wife’s family statements

A former teacher convicted of killing his estranged wife rolled his eyes and made comments in court this week as his wife’s family talked about their loss.

Michael Kane, 48, an elementary school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, was convicted of first-degree murder in March for stabbing to death his estranged wife, Michelle, in June 2013.

Michael Kane was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.

During court proceedings this week he was smug and dismissive, making faces and comments as family members made their statements. He also had an outburst in court during an April sentencing hearing.

Kane attacked his 43-year-old wife in the street after she had filed a restraining order against him and fled to a friend’s house. He stabbed her 41 times.

The couple’s two children, who were 2 and 4 years old at the time of their mother’s death, live with their grandparents.
