Mom, boyfriend plead guilty to sex assault
RENO — A mother and her boyfriend have pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault with a child in a case that was cracked by police after someone found a journal the couple wrote documenting the abuse, authorities said.
Jackie Williams, 37, and Michael Jones, 31, pleaded guilty Friday to showing Williams’ two daughters, ages 11 and 12, how to perform sex acts in a room at the Ponderosa Motel in Reno.
Williams and Jones face a maximum of 40 years in prison before they are eligible for parole on two counts of sexual assault with a child. They also will have to register as sex offenders.
Williams’ five children have been placed in foster care and no longer live in the area, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported Saturday.
The couple was arrested in September in Tonopah on a warrant issued after a woman found Williams’ journal in a storage shed in Idaho, police said. The journal detailed sexual encounters among Williams and Jones and the girls. The older girl also wrote messages to Williams and Jones in the journal, police said.
Williams later told detectives that she used the journal to discuss the abuse without alerting her children.
According to police, in one journal entry, Jones wrote to Williams: “I am just trying to keep a promise that I made with you about the four girls, plus not hurt you or them in the process … but to be gentle with them under your guidance.”
The two girls confirmed the abuse to detectives, police said.
Williams is scheduled to be sentenced in July; Jones’ sentencing is to be in October.
