Hospital staff says survivors of fatal crash improving
Two people who survived a deadly crash Saturday were improving at University Medical Center while a third remained in critical condition, hospital staff said Tuesday.
Hospital staff said that 20-year-old Karla Dominguez’s condition was upgraded to fair and that 7-year-old Juan Pedro Miranda’s condition was upgraded to serious.
Miranda’s mother, 35-year-old Anabel Sevilla-Miranda, remained in critical condition.
Five people, including four children, were killed in the two-vehicle accident at Farm Road and Tenaya Way.
Police said 19-year-old Ronald Jayne Jr. caused the wreck when he sped through a stop sign at the intersection and crashed into the Mercedes-Benz SUV that was carrying the eight victims. Police said Jayne was driving under the influence.
He is facing at least 20 charges in connection with the crash.
