Applications accepted for education savings accounts

The state treasurer’s office will accept applications through Nov. 30 for early enrollment in Nevada’s new education savings accounts.

The treasurer’s office late Wednesday posted early enrollment applications on its website for the accounts, which will offer about $5,000 per student to be homeschooled or attend a private school. Students must attend a Nevada public school for 100 consecutive days to be eligible for the program.

Applications for children under the age of 7 will be placed in a pending status with a review planned after the treasurer’s office issues final regulations for the accounts.

The treasurer’s office expects to issue funding during the first week of April, according to its website.
