Creech airman beating victim
The 22-year-old man who was beaten to death in North Las Vegas early Wednesday served as an airman at Creech Air Force Base, authorities said.
Michael Clark, an airman first class, was assigned to the 17th Reconnaissance Squadron in Indian Springs, about 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas, said Capt. Justin McVay, a Nellis Air Force Base spokesman.
Clark operated cameras on Predator unmanned aircraft. He had been with the Air Force for about two years but hadn’t served abroad, McVay said.
Clark’s death “is a tragic loss for the family, friends and the Air Force,” McVay said.
Authorities said Clark was beaten to death at a house on the 4900 block of Country Breeze Court, near Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard.
The home’s owner told police that 24-year-old Allen Heusner, who is her ex-husband, broke into her house and attacked Clark. She escaped during the attack and called police.
North Las Vegas police arrested Heusner as he was leaving the house. He was jailed on multiple charges, including murder with a deadly weapon, authorities said.
Clark is the second airman to be killed in North Las Vegas this year.
At the end of April, 22-year-old R’Chardrick Markray was shot to death outside a baby shower near Losee Road and Centennial Parkway.
Markray, who served with the Air Force’s 763rd Maintenance Squadron, survived two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
Police haven’t arrested anyone in connection with his killing.
