California teenager injured in U.S. 95 collision dies
A 19-year-old California man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 95 south of Railroad Pass early Monday, authorities said.
Richard Joseph Moon of Compton died Tuesday at University Medical Center.
The wreck occurred about 1:20 a.m. when the 2000 Jaguar that Moon was driving north on the highway was struck from behind by a 2001 Freightliner automobile carrier, said trooper Kevin Honea of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
As the Freightliner approached the Jaguar, the driver failed to slow down, Honea said.
Both vehicles left the road and overturned. Moon was not wearing a seat belt, Honea said.
No charges were filed, and the investigation is continuing. Authorities withheld the name of the truck driver.
