Party-line Nevada Senate vote urges Congress to retain ACA
CARSON CITY — The Nevada Senate on Monday passed a resolution urging Congress not to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Senate Joint Resolution 8, part of an overall effort by the Democratic majority to preserve Obamacare, was approved on a 12-9 party-line vote, with all Republicans voting no.
The measure now moves to the Assembly.
The resolution has no benefit of law. It merely “urges” Congress to retain the Affordable Care Act, which has been under fire by Republicans since it was implemented under the Obama Administration.
Republican President Donald Trump also campaigned on abolishing the law.
A vote in the House of Representatives on a bill to repeal the law was pulled last month after the GOP majority could not muster the votes to pass it.
