Woman on scooter killed in North Las Vegas hit-and-run

Updated December 2, 2022 - 4:58 pm

A woman riding a moped was killed in a hit-and-run crash in North Las Vegas Wednesday night.

At around 6 p.m., two people were riding a 2015 TaoTao moped southbound on Belmont Street, approaching East Dillon Avenue, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department.

Both riders were not wearing helmets when the moped was rear-ended by a truck. A woman and a man in his 30s were both ejected from the moped. The woman died at the scene and the man was taken to University Medical Center in serious but stable condition, according to police.

The Clark County coroner’s office Friday identified the woman as 42-year-old Margaret Littlejohn-Eichman. She died from blunt force injuries.

The truck that fled the scene is believed to be a white or silver older model pickup or work truck that may have front-end damage, police said. It was last seen near James Street and East Owens Avenue.

It is unknown if speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
