Stormy weather moves through valley

Rain, wind and even light hail were reported Wednesday night as a weak thunderstorm moved through the valley, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas said.

The storm impacted northwest valley roads and caused the weather service to issue a flood advisory until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Scattered hail was reported near Buffalo and Craig roads. Also, standing water was present at U.S Highway 95 at Ann Road, which was still passable, but traffic had slowed to about 30 mph, the weather service said.

Wind in the northwest valley reached about 35 mph while the storm headed toward Nellis Air Force Base. The weather service said to expect brief heavy rain, windy conditions and small hail.

The valley temperature at 6 p.m. was about 90 degrees and humidity was at 40 percent, the weather service said.

Thursday’s forecast calls for a high of 94 degrees and a break in the stormy weather.
