Corporal Brian Milore with the Pennsylvania State Police estimates about five miles of backlog of disabled motorists along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. A stretch of westbound highway from the Breezewood Interchange to New Stanton, more than 90 miles, has been closed down and a detour set in order to keep more vehicles from piling in, according to Milore.

Virginia Trooper M.D. Jester is currently being treated at VCU Medical Center in Richmond for minor injuries after his vehicle was struck on Interstate 64 at the 212 mile marker in New Kent County. The death toll from the huge snowstorm moving up the Eastern Seaboard is now 13, according to state and municipal officials. New reports of two deaths from hypothermia in Virginia and three linked to snow shoveling in New York increased the toll from eight.
