Excessive heat watch coming to Las Vegas Valley this week
The Las Vegas Valley is heading into a heat wave this week, according to the National Weather Service.
The 90s are likely no more for the week after Sunday’s high of 91 degrees, the weather service said. Monday will begin the workweek with a forecast high of 100 and a low of 72. Winds should be light with partly cloudy skies.
The weather service has issued an excessive heat watch that will go into effect Tuesday at 10 a.m. and will last through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Tuesday’s forecast high will shoot up to 105, and Wednesday’s high should peak at 107, the weather service said. Each would be the hottest day of 2019 thus far.
The valley will cool slightly in the second half of the week, but not by much, with a forecast high near 105 on Thursday and 101 by Friday, the weather service said.
Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday are expected to reach 100 and 101, respectively, the weather service said.
Dry weather is forecast through the week.
