Second plane makes emergency landing at McCarran

A Southwest Airlines flight heading to Las Vegas was the second plane to land Thursday at McCarran International Airport after reporting in-air issues.

Southwest Airlines flight 4748 had 114 people on board and was on its way to Las Vegas from San Diego. It reported a “flap issue” to the control tower about 2:22 p.m. Thursday and landed safely at 2:27 p.m., said airport spokeswoman Christine Crews.

The Boeing 737 entered the gate under its own power and the Clark County Fire Department reported that it was “all-clear” at 2:40 p.m., Crews said.

A private plane landed at McCarran about 10:10 a.m. Thursday after reporting a computer issue, the airport said.

The private Cessna Citation Sovereign 680 with two people on board was heading from Orange County, Calif., to Salt Lake City, Utah, Crews said.

The pilot reported the issue shortly before 10 a.m. and the plane landed safely about 10 minutes later, Crews said.
