PHOTO: Taxi drivers strike at NAB convention LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL 12 years ago Cab drivers for Yellow Checker Star Transportation, now in their sixth week of a strike, take their dispute to the Las Vegas Convention Center on Tuesday. The time was chosen to try to dissuade the more than 90,000 attendees of the National Broadcasters Convention from taking Yellow Checker or Star taxis back to their hotels. Officials of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, the parent of the union that represents the drivers, estimated that about 400 drivers joined the protest. The officials say they will stage another demonstration Wednesday, but have not decided on details.
