Pedestrian struck when bus swerved to avoid traffic identified

Details have emerged regarding the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a commercial bus Thursday morning.

As traffic suddenly slowed on Cheyenne Avenue near Clayton Street, the bus driver swerved to avoid hitting the vehicles ahead of him, witnesses told North Las Vegas police.

When he swerved, he struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk.

The pedestrian, identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as 77-year-old Pablo Sandoval, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police do not think drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, and it is unsure if the bus driver will face any charges.
