Updated March 14, 2017 - 7:01 pm

A pedestrian walking on a marked crosswalk died after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday in the east valley.

The 45-year-old woman from Semmes, Alabama, was crossing Boulder Highway at East Sun Valley Drive about 11:20 a.m. when a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck failed to stop.

The victim died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma unit, where she was taken with life-threatening injuries, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

The 82-year-old Chevrolet driver showed no signs of impairment and remained at the scene, police said.

The Clark County coroner will identify the woman who died after her family has been notified.

This is the 27th traffic-related fatality investigated by Metro in 2017.
