Nevada EEOC division chief selected as Taxicab Authority administrator

The head of the state’s Equal Employment Opportunity division has been named administrator of the Nevada Taxicab Authority.

Ronald Grogan, who was responsible for investigations, staff training and development, program management, conflict resolution and agency operations for the office for the past seven years, will take the new job effective Monday.

Grogan succeeds Charles Harvey, who resigned in October. Jennifer DeRose, who served as interim administrator during a portion of the vacancy, will return to her position as deputy administrator.

The Taxicab Authority administrator is paid an annual salary of $114,249.

Grogan previously worked as vice president of human resources at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies and in several capacities with IBM.

The appointment was announced Wednesday by Bruce Breslow, director of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, who had received the names of three candidates selected after interviews by the five-member Taxicab Authority in July.

Grogan beat out two candidates with experience regulating taxi companies in major cities.

The Taxicab Authority regulates 16 cab companies, about 3,200 cabs and 10,000 drivers in Clark County.
