Man dies after being struck by bus downtown

A 53-year old man was killed late Friday morning after a public bus hit him at the corner of Owens Avenue and North Las Vegas Boulevard.

The collision occurred at 11:28 a.m. when a man apparently walked into the path of the bus as it was traveling north on Las Vegas Boulevard, according to police. Witness statements and surveillance video suggest the pedestrian intentionally entered into the path of the bus, according to police.

The collision, just south of Owens Avenue, occurred in front of Woodlawn Cemetery.

The man left a raised sidewalk and entered “in the immediate path of the bus,” according to a police report.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

This collision remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department Accident Investigation Section.
