Gas line repairs impede southwest valley traffic
Traffic is crawling at a southwest valley intersection and Southwest Gas crews are working to relight pilots for more than 100 customers after a gas leak Tuesday afternoon, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday evening.
The leak was reported about 2 p.m. Tuesday near Rainbow Boulevard and Windmill Lane after a construction vehicle struck a gas line, causing a four-inch break, Southwest Gas spokeswoman Sonya Headen said.
The southbound lanes of Rainbow and eastbound lanes of Windmill are closed while Southwest Gas workers make repairs, Headen said.
Headen didn’t have an estimated time of gas restoration for all of the customers, but said 140 is a relatively small number and crews should be able to relight all of their pilot lights this evening.
