Crash into NLV light pole will affect traffic in coming days
A two-vehicle crash that closed a North Las Vegas intersection Tuesday night left damage that will take days to repair, according to the city officials.
North Las Vegas police responded 7:15 p.m. Tuesday to a crash involving a semi-truck and a sedan at the intersection of North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue.
The truck crashed into the traffic light pole at the southeast corner of the intersection, leaving the pole askew and spilling diesel fuel in the roadway.
Eastbound Cheyenne was closed at the intersection Wednesday afternoon while crews replaced the traffic signal with a temporary traffic light, according to Jennifer Doody North Las Vegas deputy director of public works.
The temporary light doesn’t allow eastbound drivers to make a left turn onto northbound MLK, Doody said, and the permanent replacement for the traffic light won’t be installed until Saturday at the soonest.
